Louisiana Parishes Aim to Score with #ExploreMore
Lafourche and Tangipahoa Tourism Offices Unite for Their Respective Home Teams
Raceland, Louisiana (November 17, 2021) – Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou Tourism and Tangipahoa Tourism have reignited a joint tourism initiative in an effort to get residents and fans of each parish to #ExploreMore. The initiative first came to fruition at the end of 2019 and now -- two years later – it’s back and better than ever.
Residents of Lafourche and Tangipahoa parishes have been hard at work recovering from Hurricane Ida, rebuilding their beloved hometowns while also preparing to welcome back visitors. The #ExploreMore campaign is aimed at cross-pollination – increasing tourism awareness and driving visitation from one parish to the other, because each makes a great day trip or weekend getaway.
Though the Lafourche and Tangipahoa tourism offices have teamed up to drive visitation to the other destination, their respective football teams – Nicholls State University and Southeastern Louisiana University – remain long-time rivals. While defense will be strong on the field at the River Bell Classic on Thursday night November 18, the two tourism offices will play offense off the field and unite. They’re hosting a joint tailgate at the game in partnership with the Louisiana Office of Tourism, where people can stop by for crawfish etouffee, boudin balls, crawfish pies, and NSU/Southeastern cookies with a side of Louisiana hospitality. Each office will also give away a gift basket, and fans who stop by the tailgate can enter for a chance to win.
Though the football game will be the highlighted event for this tourism partnership, the parishes have more up their sleeves … #ExploreMore will be supported by a friendly social media takeover, in which Lafourche will take over Tangi’s Facebook and Instagram pages, and vice versa. Photos, posts and videos highlighting the partnering region will be posted throughout the initiative.
Each parish will also offer a special day-trip itinerary, with activities like the ever-popular Cajun Bayou Food Trail in Lafourche Parish and the Gnarly Barley in Tangipahoa Parish. Itineraries for both are available at the #ExploreMore website HERE. A quick comparison of the itineraries will support why the two parishes started this collaboration in the first place. Though they’re only a 90-minute drive from each other, each parish offers unique activities that will appeal to residents of the other.
